2 Mechanized Clearance of Letter boxes in Twin
Cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad:
Traditionally Letter boxes are cleared by
designated post offices. The letters are then processed by the post offices
before they are despatched to mail offices for further sorting and forwarding
onward to various destinations. To cut short the time required for collection
and processing by post offices, Andhra Pradesh Circle has experimented to get
the letter boxes directly cleared by mail vans. For this purpose, all the
letter boxes in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad have been grouped
in to 10 beats. Each beat is being cleared by a specially designed Departmental
Mail Motor Service Vehicle. The letters are directly carried to the mail office
instead of the post offices. This saves the crucial time in collection and
processing of mail. The system will ultimately help in speeding up despatch and
hence delivery of mails
