Permission requested to open a counter in the post office at Naugaon
Post offices will be utilized for Railway Reservations
Bhopal (Bureau): In today’s changing times, the usage of Letters and Magazines are reduced, and the role of a Post office is also changing. The Railways have started a campaign to open reservation counters at post offices. Including the hill stations of Pachmarhi and Amarkantak, in Madhya Pradesh nearly one and half a dozen Municipal towns have been provisioned with this facility. Even though there is no railway station in Naugaon (Chattarpur), the exercise of opening a reservation counter has been speeded up. The railways have started a campaign to open reservation counters in various cities, villages and towns of Madhya Pradesh, where most of the locations don’t even have train facilities. This facility has already been started in nearly one and half a dozen small cities. In 2014, reservation counters were opened in Post offices of ten cities. This year also the railways have selected a few cities, among which the first would be Naugaon village in Chattarpur district for which preparations have already started. In this regard, officers from the Jhansi rail division have visited Bhopal on Wednesday and had a long discussion with the officers of the Postal Department.
Director General of Postal services has shown a green flag
Director General of Postal services has granted approval for Naugaon. As soon as Railway provides logistics, software and lines, the counters will be started. As on today, people have to travel to Jhansi or nearby cities for reservation.
Counters are running here: In 2014, railways have opened counters in the post offices of Shahpur, Raisen, Chhindwara, Amarkantak, Baitul, Central TT Nagar Bhopal, Bhopal GPO, Baihar, Bhainsdehi and Pachmarhi. At first, the post office of Neemuch was utilized in 2009, following which in 2011 reservation counters were opened in the post offices of Pitampur and Manawar, Rajgarh (byawra), Maheshwar, Dindori and Sarni.
Appreciations received from Delhi and Mumbai but no one yet approached for Help
The High Tech helpline setup by the Madhya Pradesh Railway Police for Crime control received appreciation from Delhi, Mumbai, Punjab, etc; but no one has approached for help in regard to crime activities in the last five days. Officers simulated theft of Laptops and bags and raised complaints themselves in order to check the efficiency of the Police and recorded their response time. The main characteristic of this helpline is that, on receipt of information the railway police will initiate the exercise of reaching the culprit within 5 seconds. Four days back, the Railway Police have launched a mobile application in the name GRP Helpline. This would facilitate help in case of any problems while travelling by train anywhere in the country.
